Campione del Garda (BS), July 27, 2025 – The Formula 18 class national regatta, organized by Univela Sailing, concluded today in the waters of Campione del Garda. After two days of racing and five completed races, Andrea and Matteo Viganò (ITA 303 – Centro Vela Dervio) achieved a clear victory thanks to exceptional consistency and three partial victories.

On the second day, the south wind blew more steadily than on Saturday, with alternating cloudy and clear skies, allowing for three decisive races.

ITA 11 – Matteo Fiorini / Lorenzo Casamenti (Y.C. Rimini / C.V. Torre Pedrera) – 11 points (1-5-(9)-4-1)

ITA 69 – Elia Mazzucchi / Jacopo Lisignoli (C.V. Canottieri Domaso) – 11 points (4-2-3-BFD-(22)-2)

ITA 969 – Giovanni Fantasia / Stephane Leo Dates (CVD) – 14 points (5-3-(7)-1-5)

ITA 107 – Andrea Sanzone / Leonardo Ruggeri (C.V.A.T.) – 17 points (7-(17)-2-2-6)

The Viganòs shone with clean sailing, efficient starts, and impeccable tactical management, taking victory despite the high technical level of the entire fleet. Fiorini-Casamenti finished second with a resounding victory in the fifth race, while Mazzucchi-Lisignoli (tied for third place but with fewer first-place finishers) suffered a BFD in the fourth race.

Sunday Report

The Campione race course offered significantly more consistent conditions than Saturday. The southerly wind blew between 7 and 10 knots for much of the day, allowing for three technically challenging and hard-fought windward-leeward races.

Spectators ashore were able to enjoy the spectacle of these high-performance catamarans, which reached high speeds and performed spectacular maneuvers even in moderate winds. The presence of crews from all over Italy and even abroad (Finland and Spain) further contributed to the quality of the event.
