FX Open Series, Lake Garda 2025: Swiss Team Takes the Lead After Day Two
Campione del Garda, 17 October 2025
Day two of the FX Open Series – Lake Garda 2025 brought lighter and shiftier conditions to Campione del Garda. The famous southerly thermal breeze, the “Ora”, blew between 6 and 10 knots, allowing four more races to be completed, bringing the total to eight races over two days.
With more tactical racing and frequent position changes, the leaderboard has shifted: Swiss sailors Simon Mille and Theo Kowalewski (SUI 515) now lead the standings after two race wins and remarkable consistency (1-4-4-5-(7)-1-3-1). Representing CVE and Zürcher Yacht Club, they hold first place with 19 net points.
In second place are Italians Alessio and Walter Bonizzoni (ITA 434) from Società Canottieri Garda Salò, just one point behind the leaders. Despite losing the top spot, their steady scores (5-1-1-2-(11)-2-4-5) keep them firmly in contention for the overall victory.
Third overall, tied on points but behind on countback, are fellow Italians Lorenzo Rossi and Marco Alberti (ITA 346), also from Canottieri Garda Salò, who capped off the day with a second-place finish in the last race.
Racing continues tomorrow with more exciting battles expected. The lighter breeze has reshuffled the fleet, keeping the championship wide open heading into the weekend.
