Switch Grand Prix Guess Jeans at Univela Campione del Garda: Matteo Celon and Alessandra Dubbini the winners
Campione del Garda, May 26, 2025 – Univela hosted the first stage of the Italian circuit Switch Grand Prix Guess Jeans in Campione del Garda from Friday, May 23 to Sunday, May 25, 2025. Under the aegis of the Italian Sailing Federation and in collaboration with the Italian Switch Class, this event marked the Promo Grand Prix of the season, hosting the most competitive crews on one of the most fascinating and technically demanding waters of the national circuit.
A weekend of racing defined by speed, technology, and adrenaline, with perfect wind conditions. Ten races thrilled the sailors, once again proving that Campione del Garda offers ideal racing conditions.
After 10 races, Matteo Celon took the win ahead of Mattia Cesana, with British sailor FINLEY DICKINSON – one of the strongest ILCA athletes for Great Britain – in third place. The top two battled it out, finishing with equal points. Mattia Cesana from Riva del Garda, the favorite on paper after winning last year’s Italian Switch Championship, is one of the federation’s top ILCA athletes and holder of U19 and U21 world titles. Yesterday, he had to concede victory to Matteo Celon, a second-generation sailor from Torri del Benaco.
Several athletes from the Italian ILCA national team engaged in the most exciting challenges.
In the women’s division, Alessandra Dubbini from Bergamo won against Ireland’s ELYSIA O LEARY. Dubbini grew up sailing on Lake Garda alongside Giulia Conti, who attended the regatta as a Switch Class advisor.
Great enthusiasm for this “premiere” of the Italian Championship and great satisfaction for the wind conditions, which made all the races unique and thrilling.
