A weekend of outstanding sailing brought excitement to the waters of Campione del Garda for the Trofeo Claudio 2025, an event featuring 14 teams from across Italy and over 160 high-level match races.

During the first two days, a round-robin format was held, where each team faced every other competitor, establishing the provisional standings.

The top four teams — Società Canottieri Garda Salò, Circolo Velico di Ostia, Circolo Velico Ravennate, and Yacht Club Italiano di Genova — secured their spots in the Sunday morning semifinals.

In the semifinals, Salò and Ostia emerged victorious, advancing to the grand final, while Ravenna and the Yacht Club Italiano battled for third place.

In the final match, Società Canottieri Garda Salò, led by coach Marco Baruzzi, a former student of Claudio Brighenti — to whom the trophy is dedicated — defeated Ostia to claim the 2025 title.

Circolo Velico Ravennate finished third, followed by the Yacht Club Italiano di Genova in fourth place.

“It was a very special and emotional victory, which we dedicate to Claudio and to our entire team,” said Baruzzi during the award ceremony.

Challenging Conditions and Spectacular Racing

The regattas took place under demanding conditions, with strong northerly winds throughout the entire event and cold temperatures on the first two days.

On Sunday, the final day, sailors were treated to perfect conditions: clear blue skies, sunshine, and steady winds, creating a spectacular show for both athletes and spectators.

An Emotional Award Ceremony

The prize-giving ceremony was deeply moving, with Claudio Brighenti’s children — Adam, Ariel, and Gabrio —presenting the trophies to the winners, alongside Ezio Pozzengo, President of the Race Committee, and Giuseppe Lallai, President of the Umpires.

The event showcased the organizational excellence of Univela Campione del Garda, which coordinated a professional regatta operation with 8 national umpires, 5 Race Committee members, and over 20 volunteersdedicated to safety and race management.
