The year 2025 has been an intense one. In Campione del Garda the wind has not only pushed sails and boats, it has also set people, stories and projects in motion, creating value for the local community, for the province of Brescia and for everyone who chose this corner of the lake to live sport and nature in a healthy way.

Univela has become a sports, tourism and social hub that works all year long along three clear lines of action: promoting healthy lifestyles, helping people discover the territory and creating opportunities for young people.

Below we share what happened in 2025 through some of the projects that made this vision concrete.

Sail Camp with AIL Brescia sailing as a safe space

The Sail Camp organised with AIL Brescia has turned the lake into a large workshop of trust.

Young people and families who live with illness have found in Campione a place where the body can move freely again, breathing follows the rhythm of the wind and relationships move out of the hospital and into a protected natural environment.

Days on sailing boats, SUP and kayak sessions, and time on shore dedicated to play and sharing have allowed participants, volunteers and AIL staff to build new bonds.

In this context sailing is more than a sport it is a very concrete form of local welfare a service that offers relief, psycho physical wellbeing and social opportunities to those who need it most.

Pesci Fuor d’Acqua from lake Idro to lake Garda a bridge for young people

With the project Pesci Fuor d’Acqua created together with the Municipality of Idro and the Iridia swimming pool we have built a real bridge between the Valsabbia area and Campione del Garda.

Young people who usually do not have sailing in their everyday horizon have been able to experience the passage from pool water to lake water discovering what it means to steer a boat, to trust a crew, to read the wind.

For the municipalities involved this project is a way to offer young people a strong educational experience linked to their personal growth and to local policies for the prevention of social distress.

For Univela this is a concrete way to give back to the territory part of what the territory makes possible.

WWF Travel residential camps between sport and environmental education

The residential camps run with WWF Travel have brought to Campione groups of boys and girls from different Italian regions with a very clear goal to spend a week where sport nature and environmental awareness are fully intertwined.

Sailing sessions, SUP and kayak outings have been combined with activities dedicated to exploring the Alto Garda Bresciano Park, reading the landscape and understanding the local biodiversity in the lake and in the surrounding mountains.

For many participants it was the first time they could see up close the relationship between wind, geography, wildlife and human activity and could understand that sustainability is not a slogan but the way we move every day in a fragile environment.

Waterland a water based summer camp to grow in movement

Waterland has been our summer day camp dedicated to children and teenagers of the area.

It is a programme that combines water sports, games on shore, English language activities and group life and it is designed to support families during the summer months and offer young people an active alternative to sedentary days.

Participants alternated sailing, SUP and kayak with supervised swimming sessions and educational moments focused on safety in the water and respect for the environment.

For the municipalities around the lake and for many families from Brescia Waterland has become a reference point a reliable place where children can spend their days outdoors, learn a demanding sport and build healthy relationships.

Optimist and Garda Optimist Academy a sailing school for the next generation

Through the courses on Optimist dinghies and the activities of the Garda Optimist Academy we have strengthened Campione del Garda as a training centre for young sailors.

Children and teenagers from the province of Brescia and from many other areas have found in Univela a technically advanced and structured environment where they can learn, step by step, the fundamentals of sailing but also how to manage emotions in racing, how to work in a team and how to respect rules.

The fact that such a specialised centre is rooted in the province of Brescia means that families have access to an opportunity that in many other territories is only available far from home.

Foiling and WAGAA the future of sailing passes through Campione

The year 2025 has also seen the growth of foiling courses with the Waszp class and the Waszp Garda Academy WAGAA.

Learning to fly above the water on foiling boats requires physical preparation, focus and great care for the equipment. Young athletes from Lombardy but also sailors from other Italian regions and from abroad have chosen Campione to take this step.

This choice has a direct impact on the local area nights spent in local accommodation facilities, work for instructors, technicians and suppliers, purchases in local shops.

Even more important it strengthens the image of the Garda area in the province of Brescia as a place where the sailing of the future is being developed and practised.

Schools and international groups the lake as an open air classroom

During 2025 we hosted several school and sports groups both Italian and international. Among them the Hochalpines Institut Ftan HIF, the Yacht Club Parma, the H Farm International School, the Canossiane school of Treviso, the ZuG school of Zurich and the groups involved in the Erasmus project with GAL Valsabbia and the Finnish students.

For these institutions Campione del Garda has become a natural campus sailing lessons on the water, activities on shore in English and moments of cultural exchange among students from different countries.

For the territory this means welcoming teachers, students and families who often return as tourists, who spread the name of Campione and the Garda area in their networks and who perceive this shore as a place where sport, school and tourism can live together.

Regattas in 2025 a racing calendar that brings value to the province

The 2025 regatta calendar has brought to Campione some of the most interesting sailing classes on the national and international scene.

Among the events we hosted there were the A Cat Foiling Easter Regatta, the national Switch regatta, the ILCA regional events, the Lombardia Foil Grand Prix supported by Regione Lombardia, the Meringa Cup and the Optimist regional selection, the Contender interregional, the national F18, the Romeo Cup for the 420 class, the Trofeo Claudio with the contribution of Regione Lombardia, the Trofeo Univela for the A Cat class and the 49er FX Open Series.

Each event means many boats on the water, race officials, technical staff, coaches and families. A temporary community that for a few days lives in Campione and in the neighbouring municipalities and uses hotels, restaurants and local services.

For young sailors from the province of Brescia this is also a unique chance to see high level sailing up close and to race against athletes from other regions and countries without travelling far.

A club rooted in its community

None of this would be possible without a strong and local membership base.

Univela volunteers almost all of them originally from or resident in the area give their time, skills and energy to set up and remove race courses, provide safety cover on the water, welcome groups and support young people during the camps.

Members who keep their boats here contribute in a stable way to the life of the club and are the everyday face of Univela for the local community.

Looking ahead

The year 2025 has confirmed that Univela is much more than a place where you sleep with a lake view and go sailing.

It is a social and sports infrastructure that works to make the Garda area in the province of Brescia healthier, more open and more attractive.

Each project, each regatta, each camp week is a piece of this wider picture the wind on the lake as a clean energy that moves people, ideas and opportunities for everyone.
