Day 1 FX Open Series Lake Garda Edition 2025
The FX Open Series – Lake Garda Edition 2025 kicked off today in Campione del Garda, bringing together 16 teams from Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, Ireland, and Brazil for one of the most exciting events of the FX season.
The opening day delivered perfect sailing conditions, with the classic “Ora del Garda” blowing steadily from the south at 12 to 16 knots, allowing for four races to be completed. The consistent breeze and light chop provided an ideal stage for high-level racing, once again confirming Campione del Garda as one of Europe’s premier sailing venues.
After the first day, the provisional leaderboard is topped by an all-Italian trio from the Società Canottieri Garda Salò, who train regularly on these very waters.
Alessio and Walter Bonizzoni (ITA 434) lead the fleet with four net points and an impressive set of results (1-1-2), followed closely by Lorenzo Rossi and Marco Alberti (ITA 346) just one point behind. Massimo Perini and Augusto Cardellini (ITA 202) complete the provisional podium with eight points.
In fourth place are the Swiss team Simon Mille and Theo Kowalewski (SUI 515), followed by Ikke Huber and Liam Berger (SUI 3). The Hungarian, Irish, and Brazilian crews showed strong potential and are expected to improve as the series continues in the coming days.
Racing will continue tomorrow off Campione del Garda, with forecasts again calling for steady southerly winds and perfect conditions for another spectacular day on the water.
