Univela is looking for a sailing instructor to join our team!
The position is available from May to October.
Who We Are
Located on the northwestern coast of Lake Garda, Univela is one of the best clubs to learn and race thanks to regular and predictable wind conditions. The Univela team organizes summer camps and sailing courses for small and large groups, combining the school and accommodation at the same location. Univela also organizes international races for all types of sailboats, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and wing.

Your Profile
We are growing our team and looking for sailing instructors who can support the existing team during the high season. The role includes support during races.
To be a sailing instructor, it is necessary to have a combination of technical knowledge, practical skills, certifications, and experience in the sailing industry. Here is a list of common requirements to work as a sailing instructor:
Certifications: Obtain internationally recognized sailing certifications, such as those issued by organizations like the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), the American Sailing Association (ASA), or the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV).
Advanced Sailing Skills: Have a solid understanding of sailing, including boat maneuvering techniques, sail management, reading wind conditions, and safety at sea.
Sailing Experience: Accumulate sailing hours and practical experience aboard sailboats to develop the necessary skills and become familiar with various marine conditions.
Communication Skills: Have good communication skills to clearly explain sailing concepts, provide instructions to students, and communicate effectively with the crew.
Teaching Ability: Be able to design and conduct effective lessons, adapting the teaching to the abilities and needs of the students.
Knowledge of Safety Regulations: Have a thorough understanding of maritime safety rules, including first aid protocols, use of rescue devices, and emergency management at sea.
First Aid, BLS, and/or CPR: Be certified in first aid techniques, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and medical emergency management.
Equipment Knowledge: Be proficient in the use and maintenance of nautical equipment, including various types of sails, ropes, winches, and other onboard systems.
Group Management Skills: Have leadership and group management skills to safely lead students during lessons and activities on the water.
Professional Ethics: Demonstrate integrity, responsibility, and professional behavior towards students, colleagues, and other team members.
Continuous Education: Be willing to continue improving and updating your skills through training courses and periodic updates.
Knowledge of Local Laws and Regulations: Have a good understanding of local laws, regulations, and maritime standards that govern the use of boats and safety on the water.
Insurance and Liability: Obtain the necessary insurance for sailing instruction and understand the legal responsibilities associated with the profession of a sailing instructor.
If you lack any of the above points, we can assist you in obtaining the missing certifications and/or enhancing your skills.
Desired but Not Mandatory Profile:
- Racing experience
- RYA Instructor certification
- FIV Instructor certification
- VDWS Instructor certification
- Boating license

Accommodation
If you need accommodation, we can host you in the available apartments in Campione del Garda.
Compensation
Depending on your skills and experience, we can offer you a daily contract if you plan to join us for short periods, or we can offer you a monthly contract if you stay for the entire season.
Examples of Compensation
Below are examples of net compensation that may vary based on accommodation needs, instructor experience, and the type of contract in place:
- Compensation for half a day: €50
- Compensation for a full day: €80
- Compensation for a full-time month: €1600
Working Season
The school operates from May 1st to October 30th.
Working Hours
The sailing school opens at 9:00 AM and closes at 5:30 PM.
Charity Projects
