Campione del Garda, April 26, 2026

The Meringa Cup 2026, an Optimist regatta organized by Univela on Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th, concluded today in Campione del Garda. Eighty-five children took to the water, divided into two categories, Division A and Division B, enjoying an intense and spectacular weekend.

The race committee managed to complete the entire program, with all six scheduled races sailed as scheduled, in southerly wind conditions. The event thus once again confirmed Campione del Garda as an ideal regatta venue for youth sailing.

In Division A, overall victory went to Switzerland's Tim Baile of Cnpully, who finished first with 11 net points. Close behind him was Lou Eisenhut of the Gstaad Yacht Club with 20 net points, while third place went to Jacopo Grimoldi of Fraglia della Vela Peschiera with 21 net points.

Just shy of the podium were Vittoria Casella of Fraglia Vela Malcesine, fourth overall with 24 net points and first among the women, and Matteo Romillo of Fraglia Vela Peschiera, fifth overall with 34 net points. The top five men in Division A therefore included Tim Baile, Lou Eisenhut, Jacopo Grimoldi, Matteo Romillo, and Andrea Radaelli of Fraglia Vela Riva.

As for the women's Division A ranking, victory went to Vittoria Casella of Fraglia Vela Malcesine. Ilenia Chincarini of Fraglia Vela Malcesine took second place among the women, while third place for the women was taken by Margherita Carton of Fraglia Vela Peschiera.

In Division B, victory went to Giulia Zanoni of Fraglia Vela Riva, winner with 7 net points, ahead of her clubmate Aaron Mutschlechner, second with 11 points, and Giacomo Levi of Circolo Vela Gargnano, third with 24 net points. Fourth place went to Greta Inverardi of Fraglia Vela Malcesine, who also finished first among the women in her category, followed by Lisa Milani of SCGS in fifth place and Carlo Broilo of Fraglia Vela Riva in sixth.

The Meringa Cup thus confirms its position as a highly valuable event for the Optimist movement, capable of combining competitive spirit, sporting growth, and participation. The number of participants, the regularity of the program, and the quality of the races offered coaches, athletes, and families a particularly successful 2026 edition.
